The Archaeological Practice undertakes and reports on archaeological fieldwork and historical research for private, corporate, and public clients in the north-east of England and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With over 20 years of experience working in the cultural heritage sector, they draw upon a wide range of expertise. Their services include planning advice, commercial excavation, building recording and surveying, academic research, and community projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to their general services, they specialize in producing Historic Village Atlases. They collaborate closely with local history and archaeology groups to write bids for and work on multi-disciplinary projects. Through their work with village communities, they have successfully produced 46 Historic Village Atlases since 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company’s two directors, Richard Carlton and another individual, also have affiliations with the School of History, Classics, and Archaeology at Newcastle University, serving as visiting fellows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
