If you are interested in a career in Archaeology a route into the profession is through a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ). The qualification enables archaeologists to demonstrate that they have particular sets of skills, competencies or experience which will be of benefit when applying for jobs. It also provides a means of accrediting informal training and on-the-job learning for employers.

The Qualification in Archaeological Practice is a vocational qualification developed by the Archaeology Training Forum which has been approved by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. It is assessed be the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) NVQ Assessment Centre. For more details on the qualification please see the CIfA website here – https://www.archaeologists.net/learning/nvq
